Securing a Chinese Visa

2) Provide the documents and payment below to Vivien Weng by 5pm, Friday, May 1st.

• Check List before you walk out of your door to apply for your visa
- Valid passport (must have six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page)
- Two 2"x2" photos
- Complete Visa Information Form (Download the form)
- $130 per application in cash or business checks only (personal checks are not accepted)
- Submit all above documents in person or by your representative to Chinese Consulate in your area

Packing & Luggage
You may take two (2) check in bags weighing NO MORE THAN 50 pounds/each for your international air travel and one carry-on based on the free baggage allowance on the airlines. The dimension of two check in baggages must not exceed of 107 inches (273cm) with no single piece exceeding 62 inches (115cm). The unchecked baggage carried on board the aircraft must confirm to the underseat size restrictions of 7 inches by 15 inches by 21 inches and must be stored under the seat or in an overhead compartment designed for the carriage of such baggage.
However, for the domestic flight within China mainland, such as some groups going from Bejing to Xian, or Beijing to Shanghai, the allowable check in baggage weighing is no more than 44 pounds and 1 piece. Please arrange your baggage properly. It is better to travel light and travel light!
Checked baggage should be locked. Please identify your baggage by putting name and address on tap or hotel. (LOC will provide the hotel name and itenary through later e-mail.)
Hazardous materials should not be carried as baggage. Cash, jewelry, antiques, passport and negotiable item etc., must not be placed in checked baggage. If your baggage is missing or damaged, tell the airline passenger service personnel before leaving the claim area and contact LOC staff. Please arrange your personal belongs properly during the travel period.

For the ceremony and dinner, something casual but nice is fine.
Please remember that you may have to squat at most public restrooms. Women from past trips found it helpful to dress in skirts or sundresses to make going to the restroom easier.

Avoid clothes that bare too much (anything too short or low cut or baring mid-riffs). Chinese are still pretty conservative and it is uncommon to see people wearing these types of attire.

Copy of your passport and other important documents (this will help if you ever lose these documents on your trip).

Bank/Credit Card company phone numbers just in case you lose your credit or debit card.

Address Labels: If you will be sending postcards, printing the names and addresses of friends and family on adhesive labels will save time and avoid you having to bring your address book or planner.

Gift for Chinese friends: Don’t wrap as it may be opened in Chinese customs. Either pack the wrapping materials or use a gift bag.
